Paphiopedilum Mix

Description

Also known as Venus Slipper Orchids, Paphiopedilums (Paphs) are terrestrial orchids that thrive in high humidity, medium indirect light, and moist, well ventilated soil. Paphs require a chunky potting mix that is very well-drained, well ventilated, and airy. Furthermore, Venus Slipper Orchids lack pseudobulbs, meaning they have a lower capacity for storing water than other types of orchids. Their potting mix therefore also needs to be able to retain moisture very well as Paphs cannot dry all the way out.

My Paphiopedilum Potting Mix provides Paphs with the correct conditions they need to thrive. It contains a hand-mixed formula of coco coir, horticultural charcoal, fir bark, pumice, and sphagnum moss. This mix retains a little more water than a standard orchid mix to supply your Paph with the proper moisture level, yet whisks away any excess water that might cause root rot.

This mix is suitable for all Paphiopedilum orchids such as Paph. delenatii, Paph. druryi, Paph. callosum, Paph. silver slipper, Paph. helenae, Paph. canhii, etc.
