Description
Blue Goldstone is a type of synthetic glass also known as Blue Sandstone, or Stellaria. The copper crystal flecks suspended within the deep purplish-blue glass are responsible for the sparkling effect as well as the name, “Blue Goldstone”. The creation of this gem involves the melting of quartz sand, copper oxide, and other metal oxides together at high temperatures. Blue Goldstone originates from 17th century Italian glassmakers where, according to legend, a group of alchemists in Venice unintentionally spilled copper shavings into a pot of molten glass.
